Professor John Paul Wright paid a visit to the Center for Social and Humanities Research during the period from 14-18/01/1435 A.H. which corresponds to 17-20/10/2013 G.C.

Professor Wright is a Professor in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice , Assistant Chair of the School of Criminal Justice and the Dirctor of Graduate Studies.

Professor Wright Dr. Wright has published numerous articles and books and consults regularly with various criminal justice agencies. His work can be found in leading criminal justice, genetic, and psychological, and psychiatric journals. His most recent book is Life-Course Criminality: Criminals in the Making. Dr. Wright's focus is on the development of criminal violence across the life-course, especially biological and genetic factors related to behavioral maladaptation. His work also seeks to integrate findings from a number of disciplines, including human behavioral genetics, psychology, and biology. He currently teaches Biosocial Criminology at the undergraduate level and Life-Course Criminology and Criminal Offender at the graduate level.

Lately, Prof. Wright joined King Abdulaziz University as a Distinguished Visiting Professor, through the King Abdulaziz University’s Scientific and Research Collaboration program with the highly cited (HICI) Scholars from all over the world. Professor Wright is currently working with the Center on some various research projects.

During his visit to the Center, he met Professor Mohammad Said Al-Ghamdi, the Center’s director and with Dr. Ahmed Nezar Kobeisy, the researcher and Consultant to the Center, and was introduced to the Center’s activities through a power point presentation and a tour of the Center. Professor Wright expressed his admiration for the wide range of social and humanities areas covered by the Center and expressed his willingness to collaborate with the Center and support its pursuit of the creation of a better society and world through research. Furthermore, he discussed the possible collaboration areas between the Center and his college of Criminal Justice and the University as well.

Furthermore, during his visit, he also met with the University’s vice president for graduate studies and scientific research, Dr. Adnan Zahid where the visit was attended by Dr. Mohammed Said Al Ghamdi.

He also delivered a lectures and introduced the latest developments in research in the areas of criminal behavior and criminal justice, and met with the members of his research team.

Dr. Al-Ghamdi, the director of the Center for Social and Humanities Research indicated that this visit is important for the knowledge and expertise of Professor Wright and for enriching the Center’s research programs which will help the Center in achieving its mission in serving the University, Saudi Society and Humanity.
