Family Research Unit

Many of the problems generating from the family have serious impacts on all segments of the society. Therefore, this unit is concerned with the study of family problems that emerged in recent times; especially under the recurrent circumstances of the economic, social and cultural changes and transformations encountered by the Saudi society. Those family problems include: intra-family violence, divorce, spinsterhood, high cost of dowry, polygamy related problems, breaking away of girls, the effect of house workers on the family, satellite channels and their impact on the socialization of children in addition to all other family related problems.


Unit Objectives :

1. To make available all scientific and statistical references relating to family problems and other family concerns.

2. To conduct studies on various issues and events pertaining to the Saudi society such as the breaking away of girls and suicide.

3. To study the consequences of family disintegration on edification and formal education as well as on security.

4. To tabulate and record all the efforts about the role of the family in socialization, ethics of family relations and methods of familial care.

5. To provide novel methods of caring for the aged and the ailing elderly.

6. To suggest suitable ways of familial care within the surrounding circumstances of substitute mothers, governesses, maids and satellite channels.

7. To provide advice to families, security institutions and the ministry of health in dealing with critical issues such as that of girls escaping home, suicide and other disorders within the family.
