Drugs Research Unit

In order to support the efforts to encounter the problems of putting drugs into circulation, drug consumption and addiction, this unit, through investing academic potentials in conducting scientifically effective research, is to play a leading role in studies on drug prevention and associated programs.


Unit Objectives :

1. To carry out and prepare accurate interdisciplinary studies in the field of drug consumption and addiction.

2. To provide scientific reference lists on the phenomena of circulating drugs, drug consumption and addiction .

3. To assess the efforts made in the Kingdom to curb drug consumption and addiction.

4. To establish cooperation ties in the sphere of encountering drug abuse between the suggested unit and other local, regional and international institutions.

5. To develop programs to improve the skills of people specialized in encountering drug abuse and in dealing with addicts.

6. To prepare instructional guidebooks for adolescents and youngsters to help them get rid of their consumption and addiction habits.

7. To provide socio-psychological counseling for families as well as consultation to educational, social welfare and security institutions.

8. To provide mechanisms for the propagation of an enlightening, anti-drug culture among families and students at schools and universities.

9. To construct religious, social, psychological and other communicative programs to prevent the spread of drug consumption and addiction.

10. To help in restricting the spread ratio of drug consumption and addiction.
