Crime Studies and Research Unit

 

 Taking into account the society ’s exclusive cultural and religious characteristics, this unit focuses on the scientific study of adverse behavior - which is offensive to the individuals and harmful to the society - mainly to describe, measure and explain all types of anti-social behavior and be able to predict, in the light of current variables, the future forms of such behavior, in order to benefit those parties involved in controlling criminal behavior.


The Unit Objectives :

1. To measure the overall magnitude of all categories of crime for the purpose of planning for preventive procedures.

2. To survey and specify modern patterns of crime and deviance (Internet – Communication – Money laundering).

3. To work out a statistical distribution map for crimes in the society based on age, type, social class and geographical location.

4. To focus on highly dangerous crimes especially those related to murder, theft, honor and national security.

5. To measure the extent of effectiveness of the defensive measures and the procedures for dealing with various categories of criminals.

6. To measure the effect of the media such as television movies and series which show different kinds of crime.

7. To acquire knowledge of the social and psychological attributes of different categories of criminals.

8. To attain knowledge about the extent of the responsibility of the victims in facilitating the incidence of crimes.

9. To organize enlightening seminars on the extent of the danger of crimes and on how to avoid being a victim.

10. To provide scholarly consultation on criminal behavior to concerned parties and individuals.
